About the RSNB-GIE
The Republic of Sabah North Borneo Government-in-Exile (RSNB-GIE) is the legitimate governing body representing the aspirations and sovereign rights of the people of Sabah. Proclaimed in Melbourne, Australia on 13 September 2025 at the historic Borneo Rising Summit, the RSNB-GIE exists as the official political and diplomatic vehicle for Sabah's path to self-determination and full independence.
Our Purpose
We exist because the people of Sabah were denied their fundamental right to freely determine their own political future. The 1963 formation of Malaysia — which incorporated Sabah without genuine, informed consent and in violation of binding international agreements — created an injustice that has persisted for over six decades. The RSNB-GIE was established to correct that injustice through peaceful, legal, and diplomatic means.
Who We Represent
We represent the millions of Sabahans — on the island of Borneo and across the global diaspora — who believe that Sabah's incorporation into Malaysia was unlawful, and that the people of Sabah have the right to revisit that decision under international law. Our membership spans Australia, the United Kingdom, North America, Europe, and Southeast Asia.
How We Operate
The RSNB-GIE operates as a government-in-exile in accordance with established principles of international law. We maintain a structured executive body, a legal and advocacy division, a diplomatic bureau, and active engagement with international human rights bodies. We are funded entirely by voluntary contributions from our membership and the Sabahan diaspora community.
