Your Role from Abroad
Sabahans living outside of Sabah play a uniquely important role in the independence movement. From the relative safety of democratic countries, diaspora Sabahans can speak freely about Sabah's situation, engage with local politicians and media, raise funds, build international awareness, and demonstrate to the world that the desire for Sabahan self-determination is real, deep, and organised.
Join or Form a Local Chapter
The RSNB-GIE is establishing local chapters in cities with significant Sabahan diaspora populations. If there is already a chapter in your city, we encourage you to join and participate in its activities. If there is not yet a chapter, consider whether you could help establish one. Our national office can provide guidance and support for new chapter formation.
Engage Your Local Politicians
One of the most powerful things a diaspora member can do is engage with the elected representatives of their adopted country. Write to your local MP or councillor about Sabah's situation. Invite them to community events. Encourage them to raise the issue of Sabah's right to self-determination in parliament or local government. Political pressure from allied democracies is one of the most effective tools available to us.
