Advocacy

Our campaigns, legal actions, and international outreach

Our Advocacy Strategy

The RSNB-GIE pursues its goals through a coordinated, multi-track strategy built on three interconnected pillars. Each pillar reinforces and amplifies the others, creating a comprehensive approach that advances Sabah's cause on every relevant front simultaneously.

Legal Action

We pursue legal strategies through international courts, arbitration bodies, and UN mechanisms. Our legal team researches and documents the violations of the Malaysia Agreement and the denial of self-determination rights, building a comprehensive legal record for international adjudication.

🌐 International Diplomacy

Our diplomatic work engages governments, international organizations, and multilateral forums to build awareness and support for Sabah's right to self-determination. We maintain active relationships with sympathetic parliamentarians, diplomats, and international institutions.

📢 Public Awareness

We tell the story of Sabah to the world through media engagement, publications, social media campaigns, and community outreach. Raising public awareness — both within the Sabahan diaspora and among international audiences — is essential to building the political will needed to advance our cause.

Current Campaigns

UN Recognition Campaign

We are actively pursuing formal recognition from United Nations bodies, including submissions to the UN Special Committee on Decolonization and engagement with the UN Human Rights Council. This campaign aims to place Sabah's self-determination claim firmly on the international agenda.

Human Rights Documentation

Our human rights documentation program systematically records and verifies cases of political suppression, land rights violations, and discrimination against indigenous communities in Sabah. This evidence base supports our legal and diplomatic work and is shared with international human rights bodies.

Legal Challenge to Malaysia Agreement

Working with international legal experts, we are developing a comprehensive legal challenge that examines the validity and implementation of the 1963 Malaysia Agreement. This work aims to identify viable legal pathways for addressing Sabah's status in recognized international forums.

Diaspora Engagement Program

The Sabahan diaspora is a vital part of our movement. Our diaspora engagement program builds connections among Sabahans living in Australia, the UK, North America, and elsewhere, fostering community, sharing information, and mobilizing support for our advocacy work.

How to Support Our Work

The success of our advocacy depends on the active engagement of people who share our commitment to justice, self-determination, and human rights. There are many ways to support the RSNB-GIE's work, regardless of where you are in the world.

Amplify Our Message

Follow us on social media and share our content. Every share extends the reach of Sabah's story and helps build the public awareness that drives political change. Help us reach audiences our campaigns might not otherwise reach.

Engage Your Representatives

Contact your local parliamentarians and elected officials. Ask them to learn about Sabah's situation and to raise the question of self-determination in relevant political forums. Political pressure from democratic governments is a powerful tool.

Support Financially

Legal research, diplomatic outreach, and public education all require financial resources. Donations to the RSNB-GIE go directly toward these activities. Every contribution, however small, makes a real difference to our capacity to pursue Sabah's cause.
