Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the most common questions about Sabah and the RSNB-GIE

What is the RSNB-GIE?

The Republic of Sabah North Borneo Government-in-Exile is the legitimate political body representing the people of Sabah in their pursuit of self-determination and independence. It was proclaimed in Melbourne, Australia on 13 September 2025.

Why was the RSNB-GIE established in Australia?

Australia has a large and active Sabahan diaspora community and a strong tradition of supporting the rule of law and human rights. The RSNB-GIE was established in Australia because its founding members were based there and because the democratic freedoms available in Australia allow the organisation to operate safely and openly.

Is the RSNB-GIE recognised by any government?

The RSNB-GIE is a newly established organisation and formal government recognition is a long-term strategic goal. We are actively building the international relationships and legal foundations necessary for recognition. Many governments-in-exile have achieved recognition after years of sustained advocacy.

How can I help?

There are many ways to support Sabah's cause: register as a member, volunteer your time and skills, donate to support our activities, share our content on social media, write to your elected representatives, and spread awareness of Sabah's situation in your community.

Is my support or membership safe?

The RSNB-GIE takes the safety and security of its members very seriously. For operational reasons, we do not publicly disclose the identities of our members. If you have specific concerns about your personal safety, please contact us privately to discuss appropriate arrangements.
