Borneo Rising Summit 2025

The historic gathering that launched a movement

The Summit

The Borneo Rising Summit was held in Melbourne, Australia on 13 September 2025. It brought together Sabahan community leaders, legal scholars, human rights advocates, members of allied organisations, and supporters from across the globe for a historic day of declaration and commitment.

What Was Achieved

The Summit achieved three landmark outcomes: the formal Proclamation of the Republic of Sabah North Borneo Government-in-Exile; the adoption of the Borneo Rising Declaration, calling upon the United Nations and the international community to recognise Sabah's right to self-determination; and the establishment of the first governing council of the RSNB-GIE, with elected officers and a mandate to act on behalf of the Sabahan people.

International Participation

The Summit was attended by representatives of allied independence movements, diaspora organisations, and sympathetic human rights bodies. Messages of solidarity were received from international organisations and individuals who have long supported Sabah's cause. The Summit was documented and its proceedings have been transmitted to the United Nations.

A Movement Is Born

The Borneo Rising Summit marked not an end, but a beginning. It transformed decades of individual advocacy into a structured, unified movement with legal standing, institutional capacity, and a clear roadmap for achieving Sabah's independence through international law and diplomacy.
