About Republic of Sabah North Borneo Government-in-Exile (RSNB-GiE)
The Republic of Sabah North Borneo Government-in-Exile (RSNB-GiE) is a political and diplomatic body established to represent the national aspirations, historical rights, and future self-determination of the people of Sabah, North Borneo.
RSNB-GiE was proclaimed in Melbourne, Australia, on 13 September 2025 and was formally established on 16 September 2025 as a representative body formed by Sabahans and supporters of Sabah’s right to self-determination. Its establishment arose from the understanding that the political status of Sabah remains unresolved in law and history, and that a peaceful, lawful, democratic, and internationally responsible platform was necessary to represent that cause with seriousness, discipline, and continuity.
RSNB-GiE maintains that the future of Sabah must be determined by the people of Sabah themselves. It exists to pursue that cause through peaceful advocacy, public education, legal and historical research, diplomatic engagement, and responsible national preparation.
It is not an armed movement, nor a campaign of hatred or disorder. It is a disciplined and principled effort to advance Sabah’s cause through peaceful, lawful, and democratic means.

• prepare the intellectual and organisational foundations for future self-government
What the Public Should Understand
RSNB-GiE asks the public to understand its existence in the proper context.
This is not a campaign of hatred.
This is not a call for chaos.
This is not an attempt to divide Sabahans.
It is a peaceful and principled effort to ensure that Sabah’s past is understood honestly, Sabah’s present is assessed truthfully, and Sabah’s future is determined by its own people.
Looking Ahead
RSNB-GiE remains committed to a future in which the people of Sabah are informed, united, and prepared to determine their political destiny through lawful and peaceful means.
Its role is to continue building awareness, credibility, and readiness so that the question of Sabah’s future may be addressed with seriousness, maturity, and international respect.
International Engagement
The Republic of Sabah North Borneo Government-in-Exile conducts its work in accordance with international law and established diplomatic norms. It remains open to peaceful and constructive engagement with states, international organisations, and institutions that respect the principles of self-determination, the rule of law, and democratic governance.
Any future international relationships shall be pursued through lawful, transparent, and mutually respectful channels, and in a manner consistent with the freely expressed will of the people of Sabah.
